McKayla Espey
Birth & Postpartum Doula,
Educator
&
NDDA Finance & Administrative Director
McKayla Espey is a ProDoula trained postpartum doula and Best Certified Birth Doula who credits most of her passion for sisterhood, birth and postpartum to her own mother and NDDA founder, Melissa Espey-Mueller. McKayla grew up as the eldest of 5 children and cannot remember a time in her life when she wasn’t listening, learning, and being exposed to all things birth, breasts, and babies. When deciding what to pursue as her career, McKayla knew she wanted to be a part of North Dallas Doula Associates and the business her family watched grow since inception. The apple didn’t fall too far from the tree, and she knew that hard work and dedication would be necessary to reach her goal and ultimately honor the NDDA philosophy and award-winning legacy.
McKayla received her bachelor’s degree in Business and Finance from Tarleton State University in Stephenville, Texas in 2017. Shortly after graduation she accepted a position at NDDA as Finance and Administrative Director, managing North Dallas Doula Associates hospital education accounts. Working as a liaison between the hospital administration and staff has given McKayla the unique opportunity to learn more about hospital culture and evidence-based research regarding birth and postpartum support for women in the hospital setting. McKayla is a passionate and fierce supporter of women, as the great granddaughter of Mexican immigrants, she holds a special place and love for women of color. She believes in constantly learning and sharing her knowledge with other women, so that they may find their own personal empowered journey into the sisterhood of motherhood.
McKayla enjoys spending time with her large Latin family, especially her sisters and brothers. Born in Southern California, she is a California girl at heart who loves to have her feet in the sand, but also loves vacationing in Upstate New York at her family’s cottage on Lake Ontario.
McKayla can be found in the NDDA office most days answering calls for hospital education, taking payments, and developing new and improved ways for NDDA to excel. She teaches Sibling Classes, works as a Sibling Doula and Birth Doula.
