Courtney has always been fascinated by pregnancy and birth since she was a little girl. Her passion for birth led her to earn her bachelors in nursing and become a labor and delivery nurse in 2006. Since that time Courtney has supported countless families during childbirth at various hospitals across the country. She wholeheartedly believes every family should be knowledgeable about their birth choices and have those choices respected. Courtney went on to earn her masters in nursing education and has been a nursing instructor since 2012. She also enjoys prenatal education and preparing new families for the joys and challenges of their new additions. Courtney currently teaches breastfeeding, breast pumping & returning to work baby care, new dads, and infant safety and CPR.
Although Courtney has always been an avid supporter of breastfeeding, it wasn't until 2014 when she had her first baby that her passion for lactation support and education grew. It was at that life changing moment that she decided to become an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. Though fully committed to helping all families with their breastfeeding goals, Courtney is extremely passionate about breastfeeding in the African-American community, as this population has the lowest rates of breastfeeding. She administers Black Moms Breastfeeding Support Group, one of the largest breastfeeding groups on Facebook with over fifty thousand moms and counting.
